Case study · Investment advisory

Weekly market commentary went from a full afternoon to under an hour. The voice is still theirs.

Tessera Investment Partners is an investment advisory firm. The partners were spending hours each week drafting client-facing commentary that sounded right — and inbound prospect response time was lagging at next-business-day. We built a content agent that drafts in the firm's voice from approved sources, and a compliance-aware lead qualifier that routes prospects without giving advice.

The situation

The voice was the bottleneck.

Tessera's clients hear from them through commentary that has to sound like the partner — measured, specific, never generic. Generic AI tools produced output the partners couldn't use without a full rewrite, which defeated the point. Meanwhile, inbound prospect inquiries were taking until the next business day to get a reply — slow enough that good fits were drifting elsewhere before Tessera could respond.

  • 01

Weekly market commentary eating an entire partner afternoon — and not being skippable, because client expectation is set.

  • 02

Generic AI drafting tools produced text that sounded like a brand, not the partner. The rewrite cost more than starting from scratch.

  • 03

Inbound prospect response time at next-business-day, in a category where speed signals attentiveness and capacity.

  • 04

Compliance constraints meant any inbound automation had to route — never advise — without a single misstep.

What we built

Drafting in the partner's voice. Routing without advising.

We built two agents with very different jobs. The content agent drafts commentary, follow-up emails, and client communication in the firm's voice — anchored on past partner-written content, not generic LLM training data. The lead qualifier handles inbound prospect inquiries with hard compliance rails: it asks qualifying questions, gathers context, and routes to the partner. It never gives investment advice.

  • Voice-anchored content agent

Trained on the partner's past commentary, follow-up emails, and client messages. Drafts weekly market commentary, prospect follow-ups, and ad-hoc client communication that sounds like the partner because it's anchored on how the partner actually writes.

  • Compliance-aware lead qualifier

Replies to inbound prospect inquiries within minutes. Asks qualifying questions (assets, situation, what they're looking for), gathers context, and routes to the right partner. Hard-rail prompts and approved-language constraints keep it strictly to routing — no advice, ever.

  • Partner approval queue

Every drafted communication goes to the partner's approval queue on phone or desktop. One-tap approve, edit, or kill. Manual control on every send.

  • Apex operate retainer

Weekly tuning on voice drift, compliance audit on the qualifier's responses, and ongoing refinement as the firm's communication patterns evolve.

The outcome

Hours back. Response time down. Voice intact. Compliance held.

Two clean wins. Weekly content production dropped from a full afternoon to under an hour — and the partner's voice survived intact because the agent learned from how the partner actually writes. Inbound prospect response time dropped from next-business-day to under 5 minutes, with zero compliance issues since launch.

Still in flight

Scaling the voice across more channels.

The content agent is producing commentary and follow-ups; we're scoping its expansion into client-segment-specific communication (high-net-worth vs. mass-affluent, business owner vs. retiree) so the right voice variant goes to the right inbox. Compliance rails extend to every new channel.
